Join the Alabama Association of Nonprofits and the Alabama Civil Justice Foundation on Friday, October 15, 2010 for Alabama’s first CLE seminar focused exclusively on issues relevant to the nonprofit and charitable sector. The Legal Issues for Nonprofit Entities CLE Seminar will explore current issues relevant to the governance, oversight and representation of tax-exempt nonprofit organizations operating within the state of Alabama.
Issues to be covered include current tax and regulatory requirements governing nonprofit entities, labor and employment law standards for nonprofits, ethical issues and conflicts, current advocacy and legislative issues at the federal level and risk management and business liability issues impacting nonprofit organizations. Core issues explored will include nonprofit fundraising, board governance, fiduciary responsibility, advocacy and lobbying and human resources.

How To Lose Your Tax Exempt Status (without really trying)!
Join the Association on September 14th for this ½ day seminar that will cover everything a nonprofit needs to know regarding their tax exempt status. From policy changes by the IRS affecting nonprofits such as the ‘New’ Form 990 to the tax laws and regulations governing exempt organizations that you must be aware of, this session is designed for administrators and board members who are responsible for the nonprofits’ tax compliance and organization.
Topics covered will include, but not be limited to: the ‘New’ Form 990, lobbying and political campaign activity, unrelated business income and ‘for-profit’ ventures, employment classifications and filing requirements and general disclosures required by the IRS that you may not be aware of.
